Yes! There are a few contraindications for peel treatments, however, we are very dialed in when it comes to skin, and we'll help you determine what time frame and treatment options are right for your skin type, skin concerns, and desired outcome. As we stay inside these parameters, you will experience beautiful results from your peel treatments.

Yes - some medications and health conditions don't pair well with peel treatments. However, we are very dialed in when it comes to skin, and we'll ask you during your Skin Fit Consultation and prior to each treatment you receive. Full disclosure will help us avoid using specific treatments and/or ingredients that may be contraindicated for you at this time.

Precautions & Conditional Contraindications:

• Allergy to aspirin (will prevent use of certain peels)
• History of cold sores or fever blisters (must use an anti-viral medication such as Valtrex prior to treatment)
• Pregnant or lactating (will prevent use of certain peels)
• Outdoor lifestyle (will discuss safe treatment options)
• Rosacea (will prevent use of certain peels)
• Facial waxing (must wait 1 week)
• Laser hair removal on area to be treated (must wait 2 weeks)
• Use of prescription keratolytics/vitamin A topicals (discontinue 5 days prior)
• Use of non-prescription keratolytics/vitamin A topicals (discontinue 3 days prior)
• Botox or dermal fillers (must wait 2 weeks)
• Use of antibiotics (may increase skin sensitivity; will discuss case-by-case)
• Use of tanning beds or frequent sun exposure
• Any infectious disease

Absolute Contraindications:

• Use of Accutane (must be off for 6-12 months, depending on the peel)
• Current use of hydrocortisone on the treated area
• Sunburned, wind-burned, or compromised skin (must wait 2 weeks)
• Visible redness, irritation, or inflammation
• Active cold sores or facial rash
• Active rosacea flare-ups
• Abnormal lesions
• Current treatment for serious medical condition (doctor's note required)
• Autoimmune disease (doctor's note required)
• Medications for Diabetes Tye 2, Lupus, Chemo
• History of hypertrophic scarring
• Use of tanning beds or frequent sun exposure
• Any infectious disease

Long and short, you don't know... but we do! For new clients (and clients we haven't seen for a time), we always begin with a Skin Fitness Consultation prior to beginning any treatment program or receiving any skincare treatment. Our Skin Coaching program enables us to review your skin fitness assessment together, determine the right course of action for your skin, and decide which facial treatments will be best in helping you achieve your desired outcomes.

Through our SKIN STUDIO 360 advanced skincare program, we recommend 6 progressive clinical peel sessions, spaced 2-4 weeks apart (depending on the type of peel used). Each clinical peel session is customized specifically to your skin. Upon completion of your SKIN STUDIO 360 advanced skincare program, we recommend monthly Red Carpet Facial Treatments and a simple prescribed home maintenance skincare regimen to maintain your beautiful results. You may complete one to two SKIN STUDIO 360 advanced skincare programs per year.

Before each clinical peel session, you will receive an email with pre-treatment reminders to note and follow prior to receiving treatment. We will also include a list of contraindications that may be applicable to you. Please review these items to ensure you are free from any specific conditions that would prevent you from receiving a clinical peel treatment. We will also review these at the time of your appointment. Abiding by these guidelines will help ensure a safe and effective treatment.

After each clinical peel session, you will receive a post-treatment product kit and instructions on how to care for your skin in the days following your clinical peel treatment. Following these instructions carefully will help avoid any unnecessary complications and ensure best results from your clinical peel treatment.

Pre-Treatment Reminders:

• Arrive to your appointment with clean, makeup-free skin.

2 weeks prior to your peel session:

• Avoid any prolonged sun exposure, outdoors or in a tanning bed
• Avoid laser hair removal on the area to be treated
• Avoid receiving botox or dermal fillers (Workout & Bootcamp peels)

1 week prior to your peel session:

• Avoid any facial waxing
• Stop use of prescription keratolytics/Vitamin A topicals (5 days prior to treatment)
• Stop use of non-prescription keratolytics/Vitamin A topicals (3 days prior to
  treatment)
• Stop use of AHA/BHA-based products (2 days prior to treatment)
• If you have very sensitive or reactive skin and are concerned that you might have a strong reaction to your peel, please allow us to administer a patch test 48-hours prior to receiving treatment to ensure a stable and successful outcome. For especially reactive skin, it will be best to begin with a mild peel treatment to allow your skin to acclimate to the peeling process.
