Yes! InnoPen can safely be used on all areas of the body, on all types skin, on all colors of skin, and can address a wide range of skin problems such as acne scars, stretch marks, fine lines and wrinkles, and pigmentation. InnoPen procedures allow for more versatility than other common ablative skin treatments which are sensitive to darker skin types, have increased risk factors, and can require longer periods of post-treatment downtime.

The vast majority of people are able to safely receive advanced InnoPen procedures, however, there are a few conditions that will prevent treatment. We will always ask about any possible contraindications during our initial consultation and prior to each appointment.

Precautions & Contraindications:

• Active cold sores (herpes simplex virus)
• History of herpes simplex (anti-viral medication must be taken 24 hours prior to receiving treatment)
• Active acne breakout with pustules (mild breakout without pustules may be treated, pending consultation)
• Presence of keloid scars or history of raised scarring
• History of eczema, psoriasis, or other chronic skin conditions on treatment area
• Presence of large number of raised moles, warts, or lesions on treatment area (infrequent lesions can be avoided during treatment)
• Brand new scar tissue (wounds with scars need to heal for 6 months prior to treating)
• Open wounds on the treatment area (minor wounds can be avoided during treatment)

Absolute Contraindications:

• Scleroderma
• Active bacterial or fungal infection
• Pregnant or lactating (safe ​treatments are available during pregnancy; please discuss these options with your service provider prior to receiving treatment)

Through our SKIN STUDIO 360 program, we recommend a regimen of 4-6 InnoPen procedures, spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Between each InnoPen procedure, we strongly recommend the use of our at-home MTS roller kit 1-3 times per week to enhance and maintain beautiful outcomes over time.

Skin remodeling is a process. Your first procedure will yield positive results, but significant improvements will occur after a full program regimen. Your skin will continue to produce and remodel collagen for 4-6 months after each microneedling procedure. Compounding a series of 4-6 procedures will greatly enhance your results, leaving you with beautifully rejuvenated skin.

Upon completion of your InnoPen microneedling program, we recommend monthly facial sessions and a simple prescribed home maintenance skincare program to maintain your beautiful results. If desired, InnoPen procedures may be incorporated year round into your regular treatment regimen for stunning results. Before each advanced InnoPen procedure, you will receive an email with pre-treatment reminders to follow prior to your appointment. We will also include a list of contraindications for you to double check. Please review these items to ensure you are free from any specific conditions that would prevent you from receiving an InnoPen microneedling procedure. We will also review these at the time of your appointment. Abiding by these guidelines will help ensure a safe and effective outcome.

After each advanced InnoPen procedure, you will receive a post-treatment product kit and instructions on how to care for your skin in the days following your appointment. Following these instructions carefully will help avoid any unnecessary complications and ensure best results from your InnoPen microneedling procedures.

Treatment Reminders:

• Arrive to your appointment with clean, makeup-free skin

2 Weeks Prior:

• Avoid all prolonged sun exposure, outdoors or in a tanning bed
• Avoid laser hair removal on the area to be treated
• Avoid receiving Botox or dermal fillers

1 Week Prior:

• Avoid waxing the area to be treated
• Discontinue use of AHA/BHA-based products (24 hours prior)
• Discontinue use of prescription or professional Vitamin A topicals such as tretinoin or retinol (24 hours prior)

The actions of InnoPen procedures are two-fold:

1)  During each procedure, InnoPen utilizes a sterile automated needle cartridge with fine surgical grade needles, called an InnoTip. With a gentle stamping motion, microchannels are created across the skin. These microchannels stimulate the skin's natural healing responses and induce new collagen and elastin to be formed inside the skin. By effectively improving the structure of the skin from the inside out, lengthier downtimes typically associated with ablative procedures are avoided and the collagen remodeling process will continue for 4-6 months after each procedure.

2)  The microchannels created in the skin during the procedure act as delivery conduits in penetrating sterile, second-to-none microneedling solutions into the deeper, active layers of the skin where they effect the most change. These potent, single-use, sterile solutions are very effective in treating specific skin conditions and are designed to safely penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin during advanced microneedling procedures. Multiple clinical studies have proven that these potent solutions are able to reach absorption rates of up to 1000% during application.

NOTE: If you have an allergy to any topical anesthetic in the "caine" family (namely benzocaine, lidocaine, or tetracaine), we will not be able to administer a topical anesthetic to your skin prior to treatment. Instead, we will decrease the microneedling depth during treatment in order to maximize your comfort.
